Ian Blackmer is a technical high school career educator, welder, fabricator, and blacksmith. He has introduced many students - teenagers though adults - to the craft of cutting, heating, shaping and joining metal. After helping students develop their basic technical skills, Ian enjoys being a witness to the creative process and has been amazed by the work that emerges. Ian currently is exploring connections between formed metal, carved wood and stone, and glass. He is fascinated by the interplay of light, shadow and texture with hand and machine worked materials.
