Thursdays, Nov 13-Dec 11 (4 sessions; no class Nov 27) | 6-8 pm
Instructor: Mursal Nazary
In this class, you'll explore the medium of drawing as a vehicle of human expression with an emphasis on an observational approach. You'll view work from a wide array of historical and modern cultures exploring a range of possibilities. At the same time, you'll learn how to employ essential tools through an experimentative focus that expands the expressive potential in our work. You'll further learn to develop a drawing journal outside of class, as a space for personal and contemplative drawing.
Appropriate for all levels of experience.
Mursal Nazary received her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University in 2012 and was also an attendee of the Florence Program in 2011. She received her MFA in Painting at Boston University in 2019.
In her daily life, Mursal finds resonance with particular objects and spaces, which she then returns to as subjects of her drawings and paintings. Her work explores qualities including light, space, and perspective. Mursal's practice foregrounds present-experience through employing an approach that is based on observational traditions of painting together with an experimentative focus.
