Instructor: Mursal Nazary

In this class, you'll explore an approach to painting based on observation and work from a range of subjects, including still-life and the human form. You'll study the mechanics of matching the colors you see in your subject with paint. Corresponding with this essential aspect, you'll learn to use a set of tools to grow your ability to express with color and form. Finally, viewing paintings together from an array of cultures in each class will open you to the limitless possibilities of the world of painting. 

This course is open for all who are interested regardless of experience level.

Mursal Nazary received her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University in 2012 and was also an attendee of the Florence Program in 2011. She received her MFA in Painting at Boston University in 2019.

In her daily life, Mursal finds resonance with particular objects and spaces, which she then returns to as subjects of her drawings and paintings. Her work explores qualities including light, space, and perspective. Mursal's practice foregrounds present-experience through employing an approach that is based on observational traditions of painting together with an experimentative focus.
