Science and Art: Secrets of the Green World for ages 10-13 (S21-OL)

Offered in Partnership with the Dartmouth College Department of Biological Sciences. Join us to explore the inner and outer workings of plants. Participants will take a virtual field trip to the Dartmouth Greenhouse to see tropical, sub-tropical, desert, and aquatic plants, including the Brout Orchid Collection. Participants will also explore how plant hormones regulate growth and development of roots and shoots. Inspired by these visual and conceptual prompts, campers will interpret and express their experiences through traditional art media as well as through digital drawings and animation. While the camp is designed for older kids, mature 9 year-olds are also welcome to attend. Secrets of the Green World is funded in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation. This camp meets online via Zoom. Students will need the following: sketch book, markers, colored pencils, and a digital device that can download apps.
