Soft Sculpture

Instructor: Rachel Montroy

Learn the basics of needle felting, which is a technique using a needle to shape wool, and then you can create  your own colorful, three-dimensional forms modeled from life or your imagination. Rachel Montroy will share her processes, techniques, and inspiration for her sculptures which will be on view during the workshop. No experience necessary and all materials are provided.

Rachel Montroy is a mixed media sculptor living in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. She exhibits her sculptures regionally and nationally. Rachel is an advocate and pioneer of craft, working as the Education and Community Outreach Coordinator at the League of NH Craftsmen where she is also a juried member. She is a long time educator and adjunct professor at Saint Anselm College and the New Hampshire Technical Institute and a faculty member at the Currier Museum Art Center. In 2006, Rachel received a Bachelor of Art in Studio Arts with a concentration in Ceramics from the University of New Hampshire. In 2008, she received a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramic Sculpture from the School for American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
