Instructor: Élan Cadiz
Held in conjunction with Élan Cadiz's work to be on view in the AVA exhibition SCAFFOLDING, this family workshop is for kids and families who want to create their own, unique self-portrait using drawing, mixed-media, and collage. Participants will be introduced to Cadiz's work, and then be given a series of prompts about themselves and their community, leading up to their own self-portrait.
This workshop is designed specifically for kids ages 6 and up and at least one parent/caregiver and is $20 per family regardless of membership or number of people in the family. Below, please put "1" for the "First Adult" adult registration, and then indicate the number of additional adults and kids who will also be attending in the "Additional Adults" and "Youth" registrations (max 5 registrations per family).
Élan Cadiz is an interdisciplinary, multi ethnic, multi racial, North American, native New Yorker, and Visual Artist who deconstructs and balances her intersectionality through her projects. Élan’s art and practice are grounded in the documentation of her personal narrative through the use of portraiture, domestic and historical imagery. In addition to her art practice, she is an experienced teacher who has taught students of all ages in a variety of museums, schools and non-profits. elancadiz.com
