Encaustic is an ancient method of painting with hot wax that results in luminous, layered works of art. Learn to choose appropriate work surfaces, application of pigment and medium, mix colors, fuse layers and create texture. Image transfer, stencils and collaging will be included. 

This class is for both beginners and experienced artists. Learn to work in an exciting and versatile medium or find a new direction for your art work. If you feel stuck, this class is likely to provide you with some new avenues to explore.

Stephanie Gordon received her BFA from the University of Michigan. Stephanie taught art at Hanover High School for 18 years before retiring. She currently teaches community art classes for adults and teens. Stephanie has most recently been making encaustic paintings.
