Thursdays, April 18-June 6 | 5:30-7 pm
Instructor: Erika McCormick
Try acrylic painting on a grand stage and go beyond traditional drawing and painting to experiment with loud color and large-scale work. Students will learn about developing project plans, and how to focus their own creative eye. In the second half of the course, students will work together to build an art installation as a mural team, learning about art as a trade and commissioned field. Students will take frequent, satisfying steps back, and not feel glued to their seats, as they learn about the process of making public art.
Erika McCormick grew up in Strafford, Vermont and graduated with a BFA in Studio Arts and a minor in Art History from Johnson State College. After college she spent a number of years traveling around the country and the world, creating and learning. After returning to Vermont, she focused her intentions on murals, teaching, and anything that brings her closer to the beautiful world of art. Though paint is her preferred medium, she encourages her students to experiment with all types of visual expression.
