Instructor: Mursal Nazary
In this course you'll explore oil painting based on an observational approach. The class will begin with the fundamentals by looking at works of art from the history of observational painting. During class you'll focus on still life painting with oils, employing a range of tools and exploring how they relate to your subjects. While there will painting during class, the instructor will also talk about ways to paint at home in your own surroundings. Some experience with oil painting strongly suggested.

Mursal Nazary received her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University in 2012 and was also an attendee of the Florence Program in 2011. She received her MFA in Painting at Boston University in 2019.
In her daily life, Mursal finds resonance with particular objects and spaces, which she then returns to as subjects of her drawings and paintings. Her work explores qualities including light, space, and perspective. Mursal's practice foregrounds present-experience through employing an approach that is based on observational traditions of painting together with an experimentative focus.
