Mondays, Jan 26-March 16 (6 sessions; no class Feb 16 & 23) | 4-5:30 pm
Instructor: Felicity Breedlove
This course is a great introduction to the art of linoleum printmaking, covering single color linocut, jigsaw linocut, and reduction linocut. Students will brainstorm animal and botanical imagery, carving tools to "sketch" their ideas on to linoleum, and then finish their pieces using AVA's printing press. The course will develop students' concepts of readability and texture. In addition to creation, there will be an emphasis on productive critique and helping students develop their own artistic voice.
Felicity Breedlove is an artist with a background in education who enjoys helping children explore their creativity through hands-on artmaking. She is drawn to linoleum printmaking because it encourages experimentation and process. Felicity is excited to carve, print, and create with students in this class.
